Kickstarter Reflection
Rhetorical Knowledge:
Our third project,"Kickstarter Campaign", taught me how to persuade someone to believe in an idea just as much as I do or more. Even though our project was just a mock of an actual Kickstarter, through research I was able to learn how to get others involved with my campaign in the most appropriate ways.
Appeals:
Logos: Logos was used in our project to tell why our idea was needed. We used inductive reasoning, taking the fact that the state of Arkansas does not have many Entertainment Resources for aspiring artist therefore our business is needed to hopefully help this situation.
Pathos: Pathos was used in our project through our interviews, personal background information, and also revealing our risk and challenges. We wanted our audience to relate to our reasons of why they should help out our project and to understand that the process will not be easy. The interviews help truly support our claim by including stories from young people that want to go into these careers and profession but do not have the resources to make that happen.
Ethos: The ethos in our project was the credibility of myself and also the reliability of our interviews. Because I started this business in the real world and have met many local artist that say my idea has benefit them, I felt as though my audience would trust when I said that The Art of an Individual was a project that they should donate too.
Toulmin Structure:
Claim: The Art of an Individual will help local artist expand their network, gain more support, and provide resources that Arkansas does not have.
Grounds: Because of the small amount of entertainment and art industry resources in Arkansas.
Warrant: Arkansas should provide all types of resources for any career and profession that their population may want to pursue.
Backings: More entertainment and art industry resources in Arkansas would create more job opportunities and also a more diverse state, job wise. Instead of the norm of being a teacher, doctor, etc.
Critical Thinking, Reading, and Writing:
The "Kickstarter Campaign" project did not require any sources, but it did require you to research Kickstarter.com to see how people that are actually using Kickstarter to make their dreams come true. For the project, I spent a lot of time researching Kickstarters who were asking for funding for their webseries. And also how they explained their ideas.
Knowledge of Processes:
For our third major assignment, "Kickstarter Campaign", the kickstarter anaylsis of a funded project was very helpful to me. It allowed me to see how to setup my website and description paragraphs for my group project. Because I was the one who made the website and video, I needed to see how exactly to set things up. Breaking down someone else campaign showed me where to go with the project. On the rough and final draft, things turned out really well. I thought they would be complicated, but the process went smoothly.
Knowledge of Conventions:
Our second project taught me how to go about proposing some sort of an idea and how to gain support for that idea. I had to make sure that I did not focus so much on describing the idea but why exactly the idea was needed and why people should help found our cause. If I did not answer those questions, the ones who maybe did want to donate to our project would have so many questions.
Composing in Electronic Environments:
I did not have many projects with the technology that we used. I love creating blogs, websites, and videos as well. Although their were some complications in making our site look close to the actual Kickstarter website pages, we got the work done. The most complicated part was getting the video done, I am not so great with editing videos, so it did not look very professional but it turned out pretty okay.
